Multidimensional Fractionation of Particles

چکیده

The increasing complexity in particle science and technology requires the ability to deal with multidimensional property distributions. We present theoretical background for fractionations by transferring concepts known from one dimensional higher separations. Particles fluids are separated acting forces or velocities, which commonly induces external fields, e.g., gravitational, centrifugal electro-magnetic fields. In addition, short-range force fields induced interactions can be employed fractionation. this special case, nanoparticle chromatography is a recent example. framework handling characterizing separation processes on size distributions presented. Illustrative examples technical realizations given shape-selective hydrocyclone density-selective disc separator.
